The hall was a sea of pretty faces. Lovely young ladies were dressed up for the beauty pageant. Ghaghara cholis and ball gowns were the order of the day. As I looked around I could spot almost every colour of the rainbow, but nothing stood out.
A hush fell over the audience, and I turned to see a young lady on stage, holding the audience captive with her confidence and bright smile. Or, were they mesmerised by the colours of her beautiful crepe silk saree? The contrasting purple and green with exquisite Jaipur hand embroidery and border detailing painted a regal picture, while the fall of the fabric added to her grace and beauty.
As she stood there calm and composed, winning over the judges and the audience with her charm, it was evident who would be crowned the beauty queen.
